  • Key by Amazon allows Honda customers with Amazon Prime memberships in 50 cities and surrounding areas to securely receive deliveries in their vehicles
  • Enhanced ownership benefits through HondaLink® Remote Package
  • Available on select trims of Accord, Accord Hybrid, Insight, Passport, Pilot and Odyssey

Starting today, Honda is offering Key by Amazon In-Car Delivery service for subscribers of its HondaLink® Remote Services connected-car system. Through the Key by Amazon app, owners of select Honda vehicles with compatible HondaLink®Remote Package and Amazon Prime membership can now opt to have their packages delivered to their vehicles.

“The addition of Key by Amazon In-Car Delivery to our HondaLink Remote Package of in-vehicle services comes at no additional cost to subscribers, yet another way we are creating new value for Honda customers,” said Daniel Tiet, project leader, connected business development for American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “This latest addition to HondaLink provides a new service, heightening the Honda owner experience in this increasingly connected world.”

How Key by Amazon In-Car Delivery Works

Key by Amazon In-Car Delivery is available at no additional cost to owners of select trims of Accord, Accord Hybrid and Insight sedans, Passport and Pilot SUVs, and Odyssey minivan with a HondaLink® Remote Package subscription. Customers must also be Prime members and located in one of 50 cities and surrounding areas supported by the Key service. For more information on supported locations, please visit Amazon.com/keyforcar.

Members download the Key by Amazon app to their smartphone, log-in with their Amazon.com account information, and then select the year, make, and model of their Honda. The Key by Amazon app requests the user’s HondaLink® credentials, which enables Amazon delivery agents limited use of the remote features through HondaLink®. Once setup is complete and a delivery location is registered, customers can shop on Amazon.com and select the “In-Car” delivery option at checkout.

On delivery day, customers should park within two blocks of their selected delivery address. Customers will receive a 4-hour delivery window and an “Arriving Now” notification when the delivery driver is headed to their vehicle. Once Amazon determines that the customer’s car is within range of the delivery address, the driver will locate the car using its GPS location. After the vehicle is identified, the driver scans the package and requests for the vehicle to be unlocked. The driver then places the package inside the car and requests for the vehicle to be relocked. Once the in-car delivery is completed, customers receive a notification from the Key by Amazon app letting them know that their car is locked and their package is waiting inside.

For a limited time, Amazon customers will receive a $10 Amazon gift card after placing their first In-Car Delivery order.

Honda Accord and Odyssey Earn 2019 Edmunds Best Retained Value Awards

The 2019 Honda Accord and Honda Odyssey topped the Midsize Car and Minivan categories in Edmunds’ 2019 Best Retained Value Awards, delivering the highest projected resale value after five years of ownership. Higher retained value helps reduce the long-term cost of vehicle ownership, putting money back in the owner’s pocket when it comes time to sell or trade-in a vehicle. The Honda Accord and Odyssey are the retail best-selling midsize car and minivan in 2019.

“With a well-deserved reputation for making high quality, reliable vehicles, Honda is a mainstay on the Edmunds Best Retained Value list year-after-year,” said Richard Arca, associate director for pricing at Edmunds. “We continue to see car buyers pay a premium for Honda vehicles because they are good bets to hold their value over the course of ownership.”

2019 Honda Pilot, Accord, Odyssey and Fit Achieve ALG Top Retained Value Ratings

Honda today announced the 2019 Honda Fit, 2019 Honda Accord, 2019 Honda Odyssey and 2019 Honda Pilot have each received Residual Value Awards from ALG, with each vehicle predicted to lead its segment in retained value after three years of ownership.

All Honda Pilot trims received extensive updates for 2019, and its revised front and rear styling, standard Honda Sensing®, an updated Display Audio system, and significant revisions to the 9-speed automatic transmission for improved drivability, helped give it the win in the Midsize Utility 3-Row category. Accord was all-new last year, and retains its winning spot in ALG’s Midsize Car category thanks to its class-above technology, safety, and driving dynamics. The Honda Odyssey also retains its top spot in the Minivan category thanks to features such as the multi-configurable Magic Slide second-row seats™, CabinWatch® and CabinTalk™, and available Honda Sensing®. Finally, the 2019 Fit returns for the fifth year in a row, winning the Subcompact Car thanks in part to the unparalleled cargo and passenger flexibility of its 2nd-row Magic Seat®.

Statement by American Honda Regarding SRS Control Unit Recall: 2019 Honda Insight, Odyssey and Ridgeline

  • 118 vehicles are affected; recall only in the United States
  • SRS Control Units will be replaced, free of charge
  • Issue discovered during quality control check at the control unit vendor; No customer reports related to this issue

Honda will voluntarily recall 118 model-year 2019 Insight, Odyssey and Ridgeline vehicles, only in the United States, to replace Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Control Units, free of charge. A circuit board on the affected SRS Control Units may have been damaged during production. A damaged SRS Control Unit may not properly deploy the side, side curtain and knee airbags and seat belt pre-tensioners during a crash, increasing the risk of injury. Honda has received no customer reports related to this issue, which was discovered during quality control checks at the vendor.

Honda is announcing this recall to encourage owners of affected vehicles to take them to an authorized dealer as soon as possible for the free repair. Mailed notification to owners of affected vehicles will occur in late-November 2018. Owners of these models can also determine if their vehicles require repair now by visiting www.recalls.honda.com or by calling (888) 234-2138.

2019 Honda Odyssey is Top Minivan in IIHS Passenger-Side Small Overlap and LATCH Testing

  • Odyssey is the only tested minivan to earn a IIHS “GOOD” rating for both the driver and passenger sides in IIHS’ strenuous Small Overlap Front Crash Test
  • Odyssey is the only tested minivan to earn a IIHS “GOOD+” rating for ease of child seat installation using LATCH attachment points

The 2019 Honda Odyssey leads all tested minivans in recent ratings by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), including being the only minivan to achieve a “GOOD” rating for both the driver and passenger sides in IIHS’ strenuous Small Overlap Front Crash Test. In addition, the institute recognized Odyssey with its top rating of “GOOD+” in its testing of Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH) to determine the relative ease to safely install child safety seats in a vehicle. No other tested minivan earned above an “ACCEPTABLE” rating from IIHS in LATCH testing.

Odyssey qualifies as a 2018 IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK when equipped with available Honda Sensing® and LED headlights. Honda Sensing is now standard on EX and above trims, accounting for 99 percent of 2019 Odyssey sales.1

“Minivan buyers list safety as one of their greatest purchase considerations, and the Odyssey continues to be a top performer in independent safety ratings, further distancing itself from segment competitors,” said Ray Mikiciuk, assistant vice president of Honda Automobile Sales. “If you’re in the market for a minivan and you care about safety, there is simply no better choice than the Honda Odyssey.”

A small overlap crash occurs when just the front corner of the vehicle strikes another vehicle or an object such as a tree or utility pole. IIHS began rating vehicles for occupant protection in a driver-side small overlap front crash in 2012 and added the passenger-side test in 2017 to make sure occupants on both sides of the vehicle get equal protection.

LATCH is a system of attachment hardware for child restraints that is intended to simplify installation. Child restraints installed with LATCH are more likely to be put in correctly than restraints installed using the vehicle safety belt, IIHS research has shown.

According to IIHS, even with LATCH, installation errors are common. The Institute’s LATCH ratings are based on key ease-of-use criteria that have been shown to minimize mistakes in installing lower attachment straps and top tethers. The top tether keeps the child seat from pitching forward in a crash, and all forward-facing restraints need them.

Among 2018-19 minivans evaluated, the Odyssey was the only one to earn a “GOOD+” rating for LATCH ease of use. The “GOOD+” rating is for vehicles that meet the criteria for a “GOOD” rating and provide additional seating positions with easy-to- use LATCH hardware. The eight-passenger 2019 Odyssey offers five LATCH-equipped seating positions, three in the second row and two in the third row.
